Step 1

Visit https://desktop.vdi.uq.edu.au and click the OSX Client - Download link to download the VDI installer.

Step 2

  1. Open a new Finder window and navigate to your downloads folder.
  2. Double-click the downloaded file to open the package.

Step 3

Drag the vWorkspace icon over to the Applications folder as shown here.

Step 4

If the prompt shown below appears, click Open and then continue to Step 5.

If you receive the below prompt, you will need to complete the additional steps listed here.

Click OK

 

Step 5

Locate the vWorkspace application inside your Applications folder and double-click the icon to launch it.

Step 6

Enter the connection address as shown below, then click next.

Step 7

If you are on-campus using the UQ network, select UQ VDI Internal. Otherwise, select UQ VDI External.

 

Step 8

Enter your UQ username and password and ensure the domain box contains 'uq'. You may select the Save Credentials option if you wish to save your username and password.

Step 9

Select the machine that you wish to run. Depending on your account, you may only have 1 machine available to launch.

Alternate Launch Method

Alternatively, you can also launch a machine from your web browser by following the steps below:

Return to https://desktop.vdi.uq.edu.au

  1. Ensure that the Applications tab is selected
  2. Select the machine that you wish to run

Note: Depending on your current OS X version, the machines may only run via the Safari web browser.

This will download a file to your downloads folder. The file will be named something like "UQ+Student+Pool+1nsacwri0ojus0d4lqvrtvjxz.pit". Double-click this file to start the virtual computer.
