How to Install VuePoint in your Teaching Space

Please contact AV Support & Integartion via help@its.uq.edu.au with a list of all the hostnames you require to install the software on along with whether they are a teacher or student and the room they are in. This is so that they can be added to the configuration database.

Xest Teacher install
(files located at: \\rms1.soe.uq.edu.au\Xest\Xest Teacher)
• Copy Xest Teacher folder to C:\Xest Teacher
• Run Xest Teacher as administrator for first run.
• Allow c:\Xest Teacher\Xest Teacher.exe Windows firewall access if used (prompts on first run – see attached “Xest Teacher.png” for Windows firewall rules)
• Place shortcut to Xest Teacher.exe in C:\users\Public\Desktop

Xest Student install
(files located at \\rms1.soe.uq.edu.au\Xest\Xest Student)
• Copy Xest Student folder to C:\Xest Student
• Run Xest Student as administrator for first run.
• Allow c:\Xest Student\Xest Student.exe Windows firewall access if used (prompts on first run -see attached "Xest Student.png" for Windows firewall rules)
• Place shortcut to Xest Student.exe in C:\users\Public\Desktop

If you try to run Xest Student or Xest Teacher and the PCs hostname isn’t in the config database, you will receive an error stating this and be unable to run the software

Other requirements:
• Xest works using multicast so this will need to be enabled in the room.
• Xest needs to read configuration database located at \\rms1.soe.uq.edu.au\Xest - if you can browse to this folder from the lab PCs there shouldn’t be any issues with this
