Cisco Jabber Video is being replaced by Cisco Jabber.

Cisco Jabber provides Desktop Video Conferencing facility from your PC or MAC, allowing connection to other UQ Jabber Users, UQ room-based Video Conferencing Systems and Video Conferences around the world.

This guide covers the Installation and Setup of Cisco Jabber. If you have already completed the set up, and need assistance using the service, please see the guide linked below:

Non UQ and external persons wanting to communicate with UQ video conference users can now take advantage of Jabber Guest to do this. This is also the preferred solution for holding remote (off site) video conference meetings such as interviews with non UQ participants.

If you are not a previous User of Jabber Desktop Video Conferencing at UQ, please contact the AV team to have your access configured:

Once your access has been configured (All previous Users of Jabber have already been configured), please download the new software from the links below.

Windows Cisco Jabber 10.6 (customised installer with preconfigured settings)

Mac Cisco Jabber 10.6 (OSX 10.8 & Above)

Mac Cisco Jabber 9.6 (OSX 10.7)

Once downloaded, Please follow these steps to install and configure Cisco Jabber for Desktop Video Conferencing:

1. Double click the downloaded install file, and follow the prompts to install the software. There are multiple security pop-ups that need to be accepted:


2. Once Jabber loads, it needs to be configured for UQ Video Conferencing. Click 'Advanced settings'.

3. Under 'Select your Account type' Check 'Cisco IM & Presence' (see screenshot below).

4. Under 'Login Server' Check 'User the following Server' and enter (see screenshot below).

5. log in with your UQ credentials (

6. Finally, you will be asked to accept several more security certificates, click 'Accept' for each one:

Cisco Jabber should now be ready to use for Desktop Video Conferencing.
