Building 97 & 87 Network Outage

ITS are working on restoring the service. There is power to our equipment but possibly fibre up link has been damaged by vermin.

A fibre break has been found between Seddon LT and B87 P&F Workshop. Contractors have been organised and I will update as soon as we have an ETA for the repairs.

A temporary solution to the issue has been put in place that has restored network access to these buildings. The workaround will remain until the primary link has been restored.

The backup fibre path has now become disconnected too.
Although the cause is unknown it is likely that rodents are to blame. Repair work is continuing on the primary link to the affected buildings.

The temporary service using fibre cabling is also causing issues.
The building is running on a wireless connection to another building.

Please limit your usage to anything non essential as if there is too much traffic the wireless link will also drop out for 10 mins until it re-converges.

2017-08-03 16:21:00Resolution

The main connection is now back to a brand new cable and usage can go back to normal operations. We will be monitoring the new connection but please give ITS Network Operations Centre a call on 336 56000 if any issues occur that we can't monitor (eg Printers, Phones, PC's, Wireless UQ / eduroam and anything network related).
